Mumbai FC second visit might take them to winning trail

By Staff

Kolkata, Nov 20 (UNI) Debutant Mumbai FC, whose Kolkata trip for Indian League campaign spelt doom for Mohun Bagan and East Bengal in title race, returned here to take on bottom ranked United SC, another city outfit, in the 9th round at Yuba Bharati Krirangan tomorrow.

David Booth's boys triumphs three in a row were halted when they drew 1-1 with Dempo and conceded first defeat to Sporting Clube 0-1 in Margao and since then they had not seen a victory.

Their coming may augur fresh luck as United are fighting among bottom ranks with eight points and placed on eleventh in the table.

The minnows' campaign was surprising and defied pundits' prediction when they defeated Mohun Bagan 2-1 in the opener, edged past East Bengal 1-0 and overcame local challenge Mahindra United 1-0.

There goalless match with Dempo also deprived the reigning champions of vital point.

But their two defeats and as many draws in the last four games made them poorer with only 12 points and placed them in the fifth position in the table.

United in last match conceded four goals against Dempo and might look an easy rival but they have also records to beat Mahindra United and Md Sporting besides drawing with Churchill Brothers and JCT.

Subrata Bhattacharjee said their first goal will be to snatch a point and if possible to beat them as local climate and environment suit his boys very much.
