Murali interested in my style of 'doosra' : Ajmal

By Super Admin

Karachi, Aug.15 (ANI): Satisfied with his performance in the just concluded Sri Lankan tour, Pakistan off-spinner Saeed Ajmal said he had some very useful talks with the legendary Lankan off-spinner Muttiah Muralidaran during the series.

In an interview with PakPassion.net, Ajmal said Muralidaran asked him to show his grip over the ball while bowling the 'doosra'.

"I asked him about some of his newer deliveries and his methods behind those deliveries. We talked about the importance of varying the flight and the pace of deliveries and he was particularly interested in my Doosra and wanted to see how I bowled it and my grip when I bowled that delivery," Ajmal said.

Ajmal, who took 14 wickets in both the Test and One-Day series, said he is looking forward to the coming assignments.

Pakistan has a packed season ahead starting with the Champions Trophy, which is scheduled to be held in South Africa in October-November.

"Its a busy season ahead for Pakistan with the Champions Trophy, matches against New Zealand and Australia and then a tour of England next year where we will play against Australia and England so its important to fit in some rest," Ajmal said.

Applauding Shahid Afridi's captaincy in the one-off Twenty20 match against Sri Lanka, which Pakistan won, Ajmal said Afridi's positive attitude proved very effective during the match.

"He did a very good job, he continued the good work that Younis Khan has done and there was a very good team spirit in the camp. Afridi was very positive and very helpful to all of the players," he said. (ANI)
