Mushtaq in line to become England's spin-bowling coach

By Staff

Lahore, Oct 4 (UNI) Former leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed is eyeing the post of spin bowling coach in the English cricket set up and said he could soon hear something positive in this regard from the ECB.

Mushtaq, who recently announced his retirement from the first-class cricket, expressed confidence that he could help the English spinners if the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) appoint him as spin bowling coach.

The Pakistani, who has also played for English county Sussex, told Pak Passion that he could soon hear about the offer from the ECB.

''I may be doing something with English spinners in conjunction with the ECB,'' Mushtaq said.

Mushtaq has already been approached by Sussex regarding the possibility of joining them in a coaching capacity next summer, and has admitted he would be tempted by a similar offer from Pakistan.

Mushtaq, however, clarified that his priority would always remain to help Pakistan cricket and said he would take up any offer from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

''I'd be interested if an opportunity (with Pakistan) came along. I want to pay my country back for all that it's given me, they looked after me when I was young and made me who I am,'' Mushtaq stated.
