Nanao Singh enters final of Youth World Boxing Championships

By Staff

Guadalajara, Mexico, Nov 1 (UNI) India's Thokchom Nanao Singh outclassed Jeremy Beccu of France 14-4 to enter the final of the light flyweight division at the AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships here.

The Services boxer was simply too good for his opponent. He was on the attack from the opening bell and displayed good technique and aggression.

Nanao Singh will take on last year's Cadet World Championship bronze medallist Grigoriy Nikolaychuk of Russia in the final.

The Manipuri has an enviable record at the international level.

He won a silver at the Commonwealth Championship last year and the gold at the Juvenile Olympic Games in Cuba this year. He also won the gold at the Commonwealth Youth Games in Pune, last month.

He is the lone Indian still standing in the competition. Of the seven Indians in the fray, six had crashed out at the quarterfinal stage.
