Nanavati to watch match recording to ascertain slapgate reason

New Delhi, May 7 (UNI) BCCI-appointed Commissioner Sudhir Nanavati today said he may view the entire recording of the IPL match between Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab to ascertain the reasons which prompted temparamental off-spinner Harbhajan Singh to slap maverick pacer S Sreesanth.

''I want to find out (about the provocation) only for the purpose whether it was a reaction as far as Harbhajan is concerned,'' Nanavati told a private TV news channel.

''So far the documents I have received do not indicate to that extent (that there was any provocation),'' he said, added, ''I might have to see the whole recording of the cricket match.'' Stating that the umpire's statement does mention any provocations for Harbhajan's actions, the Ahmedabad advocate said he may have to speak to Kings XI Punjab captain Yuvraj Singh, Mumbai Indians coach Lalchand Rajput and the team managers of both the sides.

''I might have to discuss with some other players like Yuvraj, Lalchand Rajput or even team managers because the umpire's statement that I have recorded does not indicate that (provocation),'' Nanavati said.

Harbbhajan had slapped Sreesanth after the latter allegedly taunted him after an Indian Premier League (IPL) match in Mohali on April 25.

He was subsequently banned from the rest of the IPL besides being fined Rs three crores.

Nanavati has summoned Harbhajan and Sreesanth to Ahmedabad this weekend and he will submit his final report to BCCI President Sharad Pawar on Monday.
