Napheesa Collier delivered an outstanding performance, scoring 36 points to lead her team to a 151-131 victory over Team Clark in the WNBA All-Star Game. The game, held on Saturday night, was marked by an absence of defence and featured numerous 4-point shots. This high-scoring affair came a year after the league's annual exhibition game, which had been a competitive match between the U.S. Olympic team and WNBA All-Stars.
Despite being unable to play due to a groin injury sustained earlier in the week, Captain Caitlin Clark remained involved as an ambassador for the event. Known for her impressive long-range shooting, Clark would have relished the opportunity to attempt the newly introduced 4-point shot from 28 feet away. Skylar Diggins made history by becoming the first player to achieve a triple-double in an All-Star Game with 11 points, 11 rebounds, and 15 assists.

The teams capitalised on deep shots throughout the game, contributing to a record-breaking offensive display. Team Collier's 151 points surpassed the previous record of 143 set by Team Stewart in 2023 for the most points scored in an All-Star Game. Collier's individual point total also broke Arike Ogunbowale's previous record of 34 points from last year. The combined score of 282 exceeded the prior high total of 270 set in 2023.
The game also highlighted rookies Paige Bueckers, Sonia Citron, and Kiki Iriafen, marking the largest rookie presence since 2011. Citron and Iriafen played for Team Clark, while Bueckers started for Team Collier. Their participation added excitement and showcased emerging talent in women's basketball.
This year's All-Star Game was notable not only for its record-setting scores but also for its entertaining format that included innovative elements like the 4-point shot. The event celebrated both established stars and promising newcomers, providing fans with an exciting glimpse into the future of women's basketball.
