National Junior Athletics Championship from tomorrow

Vijayawada, Nov 23 (UNI) About 1,500 athletes from 26 states will participate in the 23rd National Junior Athletics Championship, beginning at Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium here tomorrow.

Addressing a press conference today, Organising Committee President and Krishna District Collector Navin Mittal said the field events in boy's section, included long jump, high jump, triple jump, javelin throw, discus throw, shot put and pole vault.

The girl's segment would have all other events except triple jump.

He said the Championship was being organised by Krishna District Amateur Athletic Association under the auspices of Andhra Pradesh State Athletic Association and Athletic Federation of India.

Dope tests would be conducted on all the athletes during the championship, he said and added that an exclusive media centre was opened at the stadium for the convenience of print and electronic media.
