National League Volleyball Championship from March 7
Kochi, Mar 1 (UNI) The Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and the Kerala state and district volleyball associations will jointly organise the XIth National League volleyball championship here from March 7 to 11.
Talking to reporters here today, BPCL HR General Manager M J Mohan said six teams in the men's and four teams in th women's section were expected to participate in the event.
He said the top two men's team and one women's team from each of the three preliminary rounds being held in Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala would compete in the main championship. The fourth team in the women's section would be decided by the host organisation in consultation with the volleyball associations concerned, he said.
In the men's section the teams include ONGC, Haryana State Industrial Development Corporation, Southern Railway, Cochin Port Trust, BPCL-Kochi Refinery, while in the women's section Southern Railway, KSEB and Western Railway would be vying for honours in the competition.
BPCL and KSEB are the defending champions in the men's and women's sections, respectively.
Mr Mohan also added that BPCL would lay a teraflex court at Kochi Refinery at a cost of Rs 25 lakh next year.
