National Power Lifter dies in accident

Guwahati, May 30 (UNI) National power lifter Pranjal Pachoni (31) died in a road mishap at his home town at Koronga near Jorhat in upper Asom this morning.

Police said his motorcycle skidded off the road while negotiating to save a street dog. He succumbed to his injuries on way to Asom Medical College and Hospital.

A three-time state champion in the game, Pachoni had won a number of laurels in the national level for Asom, including a bronze in the recently concluded National Bench Press competition held in Himachal Pradesh.

He was to represent the state in the ensuing East India Power Lifting to be held in Guwahati from June.
