National powerlifting champion looks for sponsors

Kozhikode, Oct 15 (UNI) A national powerlifting champion, who has been selected to represent India in the Commonwealth Powerlifting Championship 2007 in Christ Church, today sought sponsorship to enable her to participate in the event.

Talking to newspersons here, National Junior Powerlifting bronze medallist Amruta Raj said she was finding it hard to meet the expenses involved for the trip to New Zeland for the event from December six to nine.

According to a communication received from the Indian Powerlifting Federation, her name had been cleared by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs, New Delhi ''at no cost basis'' to participate in the prestigious event.

An account (No 4319000100576819) has been opened with the Punjab National Bank, Nadakkavu, Kozhikode, to receive contributions, she added.
