National Sub-junior judo championship begins in Shillong

Shillong, Aug 27 (UNI) The sub-junior national judo championship, involving more than 400 judokas from 25 states across the country, was inaugurated today by Meghalaya Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Zenith M Sangma, at the Tirot Singh Syiem indoor stadium.

The four-day meet is being organised by the Meghalaya Judo Association under aegis of Judo Federation of India(JFI).

Declaring the first ever national judo championship open, Mr Zenith M Sangma urged the Judo Federation to provide more facilities for promoting the game in the region.

Earlier, JFI president Jagdish Tytler congratulated the Meghalaya Judo Association for organising the championship.
