The 2025 India Mobile Gaming Insights Report by Sensor Tower highlights that India achieved 8.45 billion mobile game downloads in FY 2024-25, making it the largest mobile gaming market worldwide.

While casual games like Simulation and Arcade are popular due to their accessibility, competitive genres such as Shooters generate most revenue through increased user engagement and in-game spending.
India's gaming ecosystem is not only expanding on the consumer side but also in game development. Meta has launched the Meta Gaming Accelerator to support small and medium-sized developers across India.
At the WAVES Summit, KRAFTON India Gaming Incubator creators showcased their indie games to investors and industry leaders, marking a shift towards greater visibility for Indian-made intellectual property in the global gaming scene.
The Indie Game Utsav, alongside NODWIN Gaming, has played a pivotal role in promoting Indian-origin PC games. During Comic Con India's Mumbai event, over 110 Indian PC games were featured on Steam's global front page for the first time. This event also showcased more than 40 high-quality Indian PC and console games to fans and industry stakeholders.

Specter, developed by Dirtcube Interactive, supports this growth by offering tools for live operations and analytics. This allows studios to focus on creativity while scaling efficiently. Pravan Parikh from Dirtcube Interactive notes that while creativity is vital, reliable infrastructure is crucial for thriving ecosystems.
India's PC gaming scene is gaining momentum with support from companies like CyberPowerPC. Offering custom builds for various players makes high-performance gaming more accessible. According to Niko Partners, over 77% of Indian PC gamers increased their spending in Q1 2024, surpassing growth in mobile and console gaming.
Content creators and esports athletes significantly influence India's gaming growth. Niko Partners reports that 57.2% of Indian gamers discover new games through streamers and influencers. Animesh Agarwal from S8UL Esports highlights that creators bridge the gap between developers and players by adding context and community to the experience.
S8UL Esports leads in esports content creation in India, competing across 12 different titles. These creators drive game discoverability and cultural acceptance of gaming in India.
With government support and increased visibility for Indian-made games, India's video gaming market is poised for continued expansion beyond mobile into PC, console, and indie development. As National Video Game Day unfolds, it's evident that India's gaming story is just beginning its next chapter.
