NBA: Nikola Jokic Achieves Career-High 56 Points But Wizards Snap Losing Streak

Nikola Jokic scored a career-high 56 points in a losing effort as the Washington Wizards defeated the Denver Nuggets, ending their 16-game losing streak. Jordan Poole contributed significantly with his own career-high performance.

Jordan Poole's impressive 39 points led the Washington Wizards to a 122-113 victory over the Denver Nuggets, ending their 16-game losing streak. Despite Nikola Jokic's career-high 56 points, Denver couldn't capitalise due to missing key players like Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon. Jokic also achieved career highs with 38 field goal attempts, along with 16 rebounds and eight assists.

The Wizards secured their first win since October 30, matching a franchise record for consecutive losses. Poole excelled with nine three-pointers, contributing to Washington's total of 16. In contrast, Denver struggled from beyond the arc, making only five of 24 attempts. This disparity hindered the Nuggets' ability to leverage Jokic's outstanding performance.

Jokic's 56 Points Not Enough for Nuggets

At halftime, Washington held a 69-57 lead. Although Jokic added 23 points in the third quarter, the Wizards maintained a six-point advantage when he rested at the start of the fourth. When Jokic returned with just over seven minutes left, Denver trailed by 13 points.

Luka Doncic recorded his second consecutive triple-double with 30 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 assists as the Dallas Mavericks defeated the Toronto Raptors 125-118. This victory extended Dallas' winning streak to seven games. Doncic's performance moved him past Wilt Chamberlain and James Harden into seventh place on the all-time triple-double list.

Kyrie Irving contributed significantly with 29 points for Dallas. Klay Thompson added another 20 points as they maintained the NBA's longest active winning streak. By halftime, Doncic had already amassed impressive stats: 15 points, eight assists, and six rebounds.

Grizzlies Triumph in Boston

Ja Morant starred for Memphis Grizzlies with 32 points, nine assists, and nine rebounds in their rare win over Boston Celtics at TD Garden. Jaren Jackson Jr. supported with an additional 27 points and nine rebounds as Memphis ended a decade-long losing streak in Boston.

The Celtics managed to erase a third-quarter deficit but fell short in the final minutes as Memphis rallied to secure a narrow victory. Marcus Smart returned to TD Garden for the first time since being traded but struggled offensively.

The Grizzlies have now won eight of their last nine games. Meanwhile, Jrue Holiday led Boston with 23 points while Jaylen Brown and Payton Pritchard each scored 22. Despite their efforts from beyond the arc going awry (18 for 60), Boston couldn't overcome Memphis' late surge.
