Los Angeles Clippers rely on Kawhi Leonard in tight NBA finish

The Clippers edge the Rockets 105-102 after a decisive late play from Leonard, who scores 27 points and secures 12 rebounds. Leonard records 19 of those points in the fourth quarter, stretching a personal streak of 20-point games to 33. The game swings several times in the final minute at Crypto.com Arena.

The Clippers hold a four-point lead late when Kevin Durant splits two free throws. Alperen Sengun then drives for a layup, trimming the margin to 102-101 with 43 seconds remaining. Leonard misfires from three, and Jabari Smith Jr. collects the rebound, setting up Houston with a chance to move in front.

Sengun draws a foul with 7.2 seconds left and makes one of two free throws to tie. Leonard secures the rebound, and the Clippers call timeout to set up a final play. Leonard hits a fading jumper while being fouled and adds the free throw, pushing the score to 105-102. Houston’s last attempt, a three from Tari Eason, misses.

Durant finishes with 21 points to lead Houston, while Reed Sheppard supplies 17 from the bench. Sengun’s late free throws and layup keep the Rockets close but cannot cancel Leonard’s final possession.
