Wembanyama Fuels Spurs As They Beat Thunder In Game 4 To Tie West Finals

San Antonio Spurs levelled the Western Conference finals, beating the Oklahoma City Thunder 103-82 in Game 4 on Sunday night. The result tied the series after Oklahoma City’s win in Game 3 and restored San Antonio’s momentum.

San Antonio’s defence controlled the game, holding Oklahoma City to 33% shooting from the field. The Thunder made only 6 of 33 attempts from three-point range, an 18% success rate that stalled Oklahoma City’s offence throughout the night.

Wembanyama fuels Spurs to Game 4 tie

Victor Wembanyama led San Antonio with 33 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three blocks in a dominant all-round display. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander finished with 19 points for Oklahoma City, shooting 6-for-15 and struggling to find consistent rhythm.

Wembanyama had reacted strongly to Oklahoma City’s 123-108 victory in Game 3 on Friday. The 7-foot-4 player from France said personal improvement was needed to help the team. That response showed in Game 4, as Wembanyama and San Antonio both raised their level.

De'Aaron Fox added a double-double with 12 points, 10 rebounds and five assists, helping steady San Antonio’s offence. Stephon Castle and Devin Vassell each scored 13 points, and San Antonio continued its season-long trend of avoiding three straight defeats.

Bench production also shifted compared with Game 3. San Antonio’s reserves contributed 30 points, while Oklahoma City’s bench managed 34, a far narrower gap than the 76-23 difference that favoured the Thunder in the previous game.

Game 5 is scheduled for Tuesday in Oklahoma City, where the Thunder will try to reclaim the series lead. Game 6 then moves back to San Antonio on Thursday, with both teams now facing a best-of-three scenario for a place in the NBA Finals.

"Took care of business at home tonight"

The Game 4 performance strengthened San Antonio’s position in the series and underlined the impact of improved defence and balanced scoring. With the Western Conference finals now tied, both teams carry clear adjustments and targets into the remaining games.
