NBA: Timberwolves Overcome Thunder With Strong Performance In Game 3, Cut Series Deficit To 2-1

In a commanding performance, the Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 143-101 in Game 3 of the Western Conference finals, reducing their series deficit to 2-1. Anthony Edwards led with 30 points while Julius Randle contributed significantly off the bench.

Anthony Edwards led the Minnesota Timberwolves with 30 points, nine rebounds, and six assists in just three quarters. This performance helped secure a 143-101 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 3 of the Western Conference finals. The win reduced the Thunder's series lead to 2-1.

Julius Randle contributed significantly with 24 points, while rookie Terrence Shannon Jr. added 15 points in just 13 minutes. Their efforts from the bench were crucial for the Timberwolves, who managed to break through the Thunder's top-ranked defence after struggling in previous games.

Timberwolves Rally to Beat Thunder in Game 3

The change of venue to Minneapolis seemed to affect the Thunder's shooting accuracy. After making half of their shots in the first two games, they only managed 12 out of 40 attempts in the first half on Saturday. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, recently named NBA MVP, scored just 14 points on 4-for-13 shooting and committed four turnovers.

Gilgeous-Alexander faced a challenging night as he went over 13 minutes without scoring between baskets. The Target Center crowd was vocal, booing him at every opportunity and chanting "Free throw merchant!" during his free throws, referencing his frequent trips to the line.

Edwards rediscovered his shooting form from beyond the arc, hitting five out of eight three-point attempts after struggling in Game 2. He showcased his defensive skills by turning loose balls into breakaway dunks, giving the Thunder a taste of their own aggressive play style.

The Timberwolves dominated the third quarter after being outscored significantly in previous games. Edwards executed a remarkable up-and-under reverse layup off the glass while tightly guarded by Isaiah Joe, extending their lead to 79-52.

Randle's Comeback

Randle bounced back from a poor performance in Game 2 where he was benched for the fourth quarter. He regained his form and displayed his signature fadeaway shot, contributing effectively to the team's success.

The Timberwolves ensured there was no chance for a second-half comeback from the Thunder by maintaining their lead throughout. Game 4 is scheduled for Monday night in Minneapolis.
