NCC,Orissa and Young Pioneers Imphal record big victories

New Delhi,Nov 1 (UNI) NCC Directorate of Orissa and Young Pioneers School,Imphal opened their campaign with huge victories in the 36th Nehru Junior Hockey tournament here today.

NCC Directorate blanked SGN Khalsa School,Sri Ganganagar (Rajasthan) 12-0 while Imphal team routed Sainik School, Bijapur, Karnataka 8-1.

In a one sided encounter, NCC led 8-0 at half time against Sri Ganganagar.

Chaman Hero (3),Monohar Ekka (2),William Bara,Amardeep Ekka, Ratnakar Ekka, Cornelius Ekka, Arun Prakash Beck, Sanjeet Kujur and Prabitra Swain (one each) were the scorers.

Young Pioneers drubbed Sainik School in a lackluster tie and led 5-0 at the breather.

For the winners, K Wangamba Singh (4), Rabikanta (2),C Ayananda Singh, Amerjit Goswami (one each) were the scorers. P A Dandappa Gouda scored the solitary goal for Sainik School.

St Anthony's High School, Bardez (Goa) downed B P School, Parnasree Pally, Kolkata 1-0.

The all important goal was scored by R Ganny Fernandes off a penalty corner in the 28th minute.

In the last match of the day NCC Directorate (North East) defeated Gyandeep School Gandhinagar (Gujarat) 4-2.The teams were locked 2-2 at the lemon break.

W Chitra Singh (2), N G Sanayaima Singh, N Maheshwar Singh(one each) scored for the winners. Sanjay Kushwaha(2) reduced the margin for the losers.
