India's golden boy, Neeraj Chopra speaks about his experience of meeting captain fantastic Sunil Chhetri at the Paris Olympics 2024 and talking to him briefly. He reveals that meeting him, what he wanted to know most was about the secret to Chhetri's ability to sustain such a long career and how he wants to do the same.

Speaking about his meeting with Chhetri, Neeraj said, "Yes, it was very nice meeting Sunil bhai and we talked a little. It's really nice whenever I meet him. The first thing I told him was - Sunil bhai, maybe we play two different sports; football and javelin throwing, but I want to try to sustain a long career like you."

They had a very little chance of speaking to each other in the midst of a flurry of people but Neeraj said it was still nice to speak with him and he would like to talk to him again and ask him the very same thing.

He said, "Next time when I meet him, I'd like to know what's that thing, is it mentally or a strict diet or what it is exactly that gave him [Chhetri] the strength to sustain a career this long. This is what I would like to know next time because we only had very little chance of speaking with a lot of people gathering there."

Sunil Chhetri, one of India's legendary footballers, has had a remarkably long career, becoming one of the top international goal-scorers. He held the title for third highest active goalscorer before retiring from the national team. His career, spanning almost three decades, inspired Indian football and it seems, other athletes as well for the longest time.

Neeraj Chopra delivered a stellar performance at the Paris Olympics 2024, winning a silver medal in javelin throw. Neeraj Chopra threw 89.45m in the final which was 1.87m more than his record at the Tokyo Olympics where he won the gold medal, it was silver for him in Olympics 2024 with Pakistani star Arshad Nadeem making record for his nation.
