India's Neeraj Chopra and Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem are set to compete in the men's javelin throw Final at the Stade de France on Thursday.
The two elite contenders passed their qualification event with ease. Both Neeraj and Arshad struck over 84 metres comfortably in their very first attempt and will now be fighting for the glory in the final.

The rivalry between Neeraj and Arshad began at the South Asian Games in 2016, where they finished first and second respectively. At the World U20 Athletics Championships in 2016, Neeraj topped his group with a throw of 78.20m and won gold with an impressive throw of 86.48m, while Arshad did not make it to the final.
Neeraj Chopra finished on the top of the chart with a mammoth throw, which travelled 89.34 metres. It was also Neeraj's first attempt and he sealed his passage to the final with the solitary throw.
Arshad, likewise, sealed his berth for the final in his attempt. The Pakistani athlete's throw crossed the 84-metre mark with ease and travelled 86.59 metres.
The head-to-head record between Neeraj Chopra and Arshad Nadeem stands at an impressive 9-0 in favour of Neeraj. Despite this dominance, Arshad has been closing the gap steadily over time.
Nadeem has yet to beat Chopra directly but holds a personal best advantage. At the Commonwealth Games in 2022, Nadeem won gold with a remarkable throw of 90.18m, surpassing world champion Anderson Peters and becoming only the second Asian to break the 90m barrier.
Nadeem's personal best is an impressive 90.18m throw from the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in August 2022. In contrast, Neeraj's personal best is slightly lower at 89.94m, achieved during the Stockholm Diamond League in June of that year.
