NESO demands CBI inquiry into Monika Devi episode

By Staff

New Delhi, Aug 23 (UNI) A delegation of the North East Student Organisation (NESO), led by its advisor Samujjal Bhattacharya, submitted a memorandum to Union Home Minister Shiv Raj Patil urging him to institute a CBI inquiry into the entire episode of denying national weightlifter Monika Devi from participating in the Beijing Olympics.

This episode has adversely affected the sentiment of the people of the entire North Eastern Region (NER) as she was the pride of the region and humilating her is akin to humilating the people of the entire region.

The people are very angry about this and they want that the culprit should not only be booked but should actually be punished, he added.
