Breanna Stewart's 21 points powered the New York Liberty to an 80-66 victory against the Minnesota Lynx, levelling the WNBA Finals at 1-1. The Liberty ended the game with a decisive 12-0 run, avenging their earlier home defeat where Minnesota had overturned a 15-point deficit to win in overtime.
New York's Betnijah Laney-Hamilton was pivotal, hitting a crucial 3-pointer with just over three minutes left, extending their lead to 71-66. Laney-Hamilton scored 20 points, making four out of six from beyond the arc. The Liberty excelled in three-point shooting, converting 45.8% compared to Minnesota's 30%.

Stewart also contributed significantly with eight rebounds and five assists, setting a WNBA Finals record with seven steals in a single game. Sabrina Ionescu added 15 points and five assists, helping New York avoid falling into a challenging 0-2 hole in the best-of-five series.
Napheesa Collier led Minnesota with 16 points and eight rebounds. Courtney Williams added another solid performance with 15 points and eight assists. Alanna Smith contributed with her own tally of 14 points for the Lynx. Despite their efforts, they couldn't maintain momentum against New York's late surge.
The Lynx managed to close within two points after trailing by ten in the third quarter. Collier’s jumper brought them close at 64-62 before New York pulled away again. Kayla McBride’s three-pointer was part of Minnesota’s attempt to bridge the gap early in the fourth quarter.
The series now shifts to Minneapolis for Games 3 and potentially Game 4. The next match is scheduled for Wednesday. This change of venue could provide Minnesota with an opportunity to regain control in front of their home crowd.
Ionescu was instrumental early on, scoring twelve points in the first quarter as New York built a ten-point lead going into the second period. The Liberty maintained their advantage through effective shooting, finishing the first half at over fifty percent accuracy.
