Nigerian Emeka is new coach for Churchill Brothers

By Staff

Panaji, Apr 18 (UNI) Former Nigerian world cupper Emeka Ezeugo has taken charge as the head coach of Churchill Brothers Sports Club in Goa.

Emeka (42) replaced Moroccan Karim Benecherifa, who resigned last month and joined Mohan Bagan.

Churchill Brothers patron Churchill Alemao, who is also the PWD Minister in the state, had officially announced the name of the new coach and added that Churchill brothers are proud to associate with Emeka and his club was looking forward to reaching newer heights this season.

Emeka's worldwide experience as a player has seen him playing his trade in Malaysia, Singapore, Bangladesh, Denmark, Spain and Hungary while his recent destination was the United States, where he played and coached before grabbing the Churchill Brothers offer.

Besides this, Emeka represented Nigeria at the World Cup and also worked as an assistant to the Nigerian National Squad.

Emeka is for the first time coaching an Indian club. However, he is familiar with the country due to his previous experiences as a player for the Kolkata clubs.

''I have never played in Goa before, but I am delighted that I will be coaching Churchill Brothers. It is a great honour to be associated with them,'' Emeka said.

Emeka will begin pre-season training with Churchill Brothers in June.
