Noah Lyles in Olympics 2024: When is The 100m Gold-Winning Sprinter's Next Race in Paris?

The United States star sprinter and World Champion Noah Lyles pipped Jamaica's Kishane Thompson by a whisker to clinch gold medal in the men's 100m event at the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024.

Lyles needed to produce something special in the biggest race of his career, which separated the gold and the silver medallists by a matter of milliseconds, Noah emerged victorious and became the fastest man in the men's 100m final.

In a race that wrapped up within a blink of an eye, Noah clocked of 9.784s, his personal best, to walk away with the gold. He was just 0.16 seconds of breaking the legendary Usain Bolt's Olympic record of 9.63s.

Jamaica's Thompson (9.789s) settled for silver after falling short by a fraction of a second in one of the closest 100m races in the history of the Summer Games. Noah's compatriot Fred Kerley clinched the bronze medal with his season-best timing of 9.81s.

The American had promised he would deliver gold, having clinched the yellow metal in all three events - 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay - in last year's World Championship in Budapest. He will eye for gold in two more events at Paris Olympics.

The US sprinter will next compete in the 200m race, where he looks to get closer to or break the legendary Usain Bolt's record for fastest on the track for the distance. His current best is 19.31s which is .12s off Bolt's 19.19s

Lyles will be part of the strong 200m field with the event starting on Monday (August 5). The men's 200m in Paris 2024 will start with the first round heats on August 5, and the qualifying races will start at 11:25 PM IST. Lyles will run in the sixth heat, which is the last of the event.

The men's 200m semi-final will then be held on Wednesday (August 7) from 11:32 PM IST. The final, which will be the medal round, will be held on Friday (August 9) midnight at 12 AM.

The American sprinter's journey in Paris doesn't end there as he is expected to be part of a strong USA quartet in the men's 4x100m relay team with the event starting on Thursday (August 8). The heats start at 3:05 PM IST, while the final will be held on Friday (August 9) at 11:17 PM IST.
