Nong-O Hama Insists The Fire Still Burns Ahead Of ONE Friday Fights 81

By Mike Joseph

There's plenty of fight left in the dog - and that's what former longtime ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion Nong-O Hama is out to prove when he steps back in action at ONE Friday Fights 81: Superbon vs. Nattawut on Friday, 27 September.

The Thai superstar meets unbeaten Kiamran Nabati in a bantamweight Muay Thai showdown inside Bangkok, Thailand's Lumpinee Stadium, where he looks to deny his detractors and build upon his return to the win column this past April.

There are many onlookers who believe the striking veteran's best days are behind him. But he's motivated by their doubts. In fact, at ONE Friday Fights 81, he's out to show that he still has that fire inside and that it remains burning bright.

"Many people say that I am too old in this field, so I will show that even though I am 37, I am still in good shape. My fire has still not burned out. My body is still strong. I am still hungry for victory. I still want to win," Nong-O said. "My experience throughout the years will definitely help me a lot when I fight against a young gun like him."

Across his ONE Championship tenure, Nong-O has never taken part in an easy bout. Even after parting with the World Title against Jonathan Haggerty, the Thai megastar continued to face the very best he could get his hands on.

From #1-ranked Nico Carrillo to hard-hitting compatriot Kulabdam Sor Jor Piek Uthai, Nong-O has always given the best possible performance he can. And he's approaching this Friday's showdown with the same mentality.

His Russian foe made his mark last time around with a huge first-round knockout of Suakim Tor Pran49. With that, he knows what Nabati brings forth. And Nong-O intends to meet him in the middle and make a statement with a tremendous knockout of his own.

"Kiamran's performances have already been amazing. He's fought 21 fights and has never lost once," Nong-O said. "He has many strengths. He's a fighter with heavy weapons and heavy punches, and he is fast.

"He's good at kicking, but most importantly, he's a boxer with heavy punches. I don't know how it will end, but if I have the chance, I want to try to end it quickly."
