Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri expressed their gratitude to McLaren for the opportunity to compete for victory at the Austrian Grand Prix. At the Red Bull Ring, McLaren achieved their fourth one-two finish of the season. Norris started from pole position, while Piastri quickly moved into second place by overtaking Ferrari's Charles Leclerc. The two drivers were then allowed to race each other, with Piastri briefly taking the lead on lap 11 before Norris reclaimed it.
Norris ultimately secured victory, finishing 2.69 seconds ahead of his teammate. Piastri ended up 19.82 seconds clear of Leclerc, who finished third. Despite trailing Piastri by 15 points in the drivers' championship standings, Norris praised McLaren's engineers for providing a competitive platform. "It was a tough race," Norris told Sky Sports, adding that it was both challenging and enjoyable.

Piastri reflected on his performance, acknowledging he could have defended better against Norris on lap 11 but felt he pushed his teammate to the limit. "Intense, I hope it was good watching," said Piastri. He admitted he might have pushed too hard at times but appreciated the opportunity to race for wins and thanked the team for their support.
This marked McLaren's first time achieving four one-twos in a single Formula One season since 2007 when Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso were runners-up to Kimi Raikkonen in the championship. Two weeks ago, Norris crashed out of the Canadian Grand Prix after colliding with Piastri, preventing both from reaching the podium.
McLaren avoided consecutive races without a podium finish for the first time since Sao Paulo and Las Vegas last year. Instead, they extended their Constructors' Championship lead over Ferrari to 207 points. This achievement underscores McLaren's strong performance this season.
Norris described the race as stressful yet fun and commended Piastri for a great battle that was enjoyable to watch. He noted that managing the car in DRS zones was particularly challenging but rewarding once he gained control.
Piastri also highlighted how impressive it was to maintain such pace while competing against each other. He expressed gratitude towards McLaren for providing a competitive car that enabled them to fight for victories.
The Austrian Grand Prix showcased McLaren's strength and teamwork as they continue to excel this season. Their ability to allow drivers to compete freely has contributed significantly to their success on track.
