Lando Norris secured his ninth career victory at the Hungarian Grand Prix, fending off a late challenge from McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri. Norris executed a strategic one-stop plan, running 38 laps on hard tyres, which helped him close the gap in the drivers' championship to nine points before the summer break. Starting third, he was initially overtaken by George Russell and Fernando Alonso but fought back to claim victory.
Norris faced pressure from Piastri, who attempted an overtake on the penultimate lap but locked up while trying to pass on the inside. George Russell finished third after overtaking polesitter Charles Leclerc, who expressed frustration with Ferrari's strategy choices throughout the race. Despite these challenges, Norris managed to hold his lead and secure McLaren's 200th Formula One win.

Charles Leclerc led early in the race after a strong start, maintaining a three-second lead over Piastri by lap 10. Both Leclerc and Piastri considered a one-stop strategy. After their first pit stops, Norris committed to just one tyre change, aiming to preserve his tyres until the race's end. Leclerc and Piastri made their second stops on laps 41 and 46.
Despite not securing a front-row lockout in qualifying, McLaren continued their dominance in 2025 with this victory. Led by Norris, they achieved their 11th win of the season, surpassing their previous best of ten wins in a single F1 season since 2005. This marked McLaren's fourth consecutive one-two finish for only the second time since 1998.
