Now Indian bowlers should bring us back into the match: Dravid

By Staff

Bangalore, Oct 11 (UNI) After the famed Indian batting line-up came a cropper and tailenders raised the home team's fightback, former Test skipper Rahul Dravid today said Indian bowlers should perform in the second innings to bring pressure on the Australians in the second innings.

Talking to reporters after the third day's play, the former captain said the wicket, which had been slow from the start, had shown signs of cracking up.

''If the bowlers performed well tomorrow India could wrest the advantage,'' he said.

About the poor performance by the top order, he said it was not a 'graveyard' of a wicket but it certainly did not help the batsmen including Sachin and V V S Lakshman.

''The ball was straightening up due to cracks on the pitch and it was difficult for the batsmen to settle down in early. However, it is good to see that Harbhajan and Zaheer add a valuable 80 runs for the eighth wicket. Our tailend batsman played the new ball very well,'' he said.

He insisted that the game was still open and it could go either way. ''It will turn in our favour if we can bowl well tomorrow,'' he opined.

When asked whether losing the toss led to India's poor performance, he said it could be true in this kind of wicket, but that may not be the only reason.

''Only winning toss will not help we have perform on the field.

We have done our best and kept the match alive and I am still confident of India putting up a brave fight in the next two days,'' he stated.

Complimenting Harbhajan and Zaheer, he said the duo did a great job for India.
