Denver Nuggets Stage Another Comeback Win As Jokic Highlights Team Resilience

Nikola Jokic led the Denver Nuggets to a thrilling overtime victory over the New Orleans Pelicans. Despite trailing by 17 points, Jokic's triple-double and team resilience secured the win. He emphasised the need for quicker starts in future games.

The Denver Nuggets showcased their resilience once again, overcoming a 17-point deficit to defeat the New Orleans Pelicans 132-129 in overtime. Nikola Jokic played a pivotal role, securing his 11th triple-double of the season with 27 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists. Thirteen of those points came during the crucial fourth quarter and overtime.

Jokic's performance was instrumental as he also assisted Aaron Gordon for a decisive dunk in overtime, breaking a 125-125 tie. Jamal Murray then sealed the victory for Denver. This win marked the Nuggets' league-leading record of fourth-quarter comebacks from double-digit deficits this season.

Nuggets Rally for Another Overtime Victory

Despite their success, Jokic emphasised the need for quicker starts. "The Pelicans were shooting well," he noted. "We didn't play good defense in the first half, but we come back. That's the main thing." His comments reflect a desire for improvement despite their ability to rally late in games.

The Nuggets now face a demanding schedule with five games over seven days, starting against the Phoenix Suns on Monday. Coach Michael Malone remains unfazed by this challenge, praising his team's mentality and ability to fight back in games. "We've had this type of game so many times already this year," Malone stated.

Malone expressed admiration for his team's resilience but urged them to avoid falling behind early. "I love that we're resilient and find ways," he said. "But let's stop being a team that waits until the fourth quarter to turn it on." His words highlight both pride in their toughness and a call for more consistent performances.

Jokic humorously remarked on their tendency to thrive under pressure: "It seems like we like it when it's tough for us." He acknowledged that they perform better under challenging schedules but stressed the importance of maintaining focus even after rest days.

This victory adds another chapter to Denver's season of thrilling comebacks. As they prepare for upcoming games, maintaining momentum while addressing early-game struggles will be key to sustaining their success.
