Nupur, Kaisha face tough resistance before entering main draw

Mumbai, Apr 22 (UNI) Maharashtra's Nupur Shinde and Kaisha Shah of Gujarat were taken to distance before making it to the girls' main draw, in the Willingdon Sports Club All India Ranking Championship Series tennis tournament, at the Willingdon Sports Club, Mahalaxmi here today.

Nupur ignored the loss of the second set, after getting off to a flying start, to rally to a 4-2, 3-5, 4-2 win over Roshni Shedde in a final qualifying round match that lasted 1 hour, 36 minutes.

In another match that went to the wire, Kaisha Shah struggled 5-3, 1-4, 4-1 before a win win over Maharashtra's Ravina Patel.

Among the boys, Bhupendra Inamdar of Daman was stretched before fashioning a 4-1, 2-4, 4-2 win over Maharashtra's Digvijay Deore to enter the main draw.
