Nick Nurse Commends Philadelphia 76ers For Strong Performance Against Cavaliers After Losing Streak

Philadelphia 76ers coach Nick Nurse praised his team's resilience after they ended a seven-game losing streak with a win over the Cleveland Cavaliers. Despite missing star player Joel Embiid, contributions from Paul George and Tyrese Maxey were key to the victory.

Philadelphia 76ers coach Nick Nurse praised his team's resilience after they ended their losing streak with a victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers. The 76ers secured a 132-129 win at Wells Fargo Center, breaking a seven-game losing run. Despite missing star center Joel Embiid for the tenth consecutive game, Paul George and Tyrese Maxey stepped up, scoring a combined 59 points. This performance followed a tough 144-109 loss to the Denver Nuggets.

Nurse expressed satisfaction with the team's response, stating, "It's a good bounce back. Sometimes, those games happen. I said at the time, I didn't think it was an indication of how we were playing as a team. The players responded. They practised good yesterday, they prepared great tonight, and they played really well. Everybody contributed tonight—all the guys that played made a contribution."

Tyrese Maxey shared his coach's views on their recent performances. He noted that aside from the Denver game, they had been competitive in late stages but struggled to finish games. "We've been playing the right way, other than [against] Denver," Maxey remarked. "They came out and punched us in the mouth, and we couldn't recover."

Maxey also highlighted Kelly Oubre Jr.'s significant contribution to their win against Cleveland. Oubre Jr., who scored 22 points along with 13 rebounds and three steals, energized both his teammates and fans. "He does a good job," Maxey said about Oubre Jr.'s influence on the court.

"He found a home here," Maxey continued. "The crowd feeds off of him. He does a really good job of pumping the crowd up, keeping them engaged, and it keeps him engaged as well." Oubre Jr.'s defensive efforts were also commended by Maxey for blocking shots and making energy plays.

The victory over Cleveland was crucial for Philadelphia's morale after their previous defeat to Denver. The team demonstrated determination and teamwork despite missing key players like Embiid. Their ability to close out games effectively was evident in this match-up against one of the league's top teams.
