Octopus Paul picks Spain as WC 2010 winner

Berlin, Jul 9: Octopus Paul, the prophesier has picked up Spain as the winner of FIFA World Cup 2010 against Netherlands. It has picked Germany for the third place.

The British-born aquarium dweller at Sea Life in Oberhausen has achieved 100 percent of its predictions so far over the series of German matches and even Germany's surprise group stage loss to Serbia.

He was given the options of picking food from two different plastic containers lowered in the tank, one decorated with Spanish flag and one with German. He showed a sign of hesitation first and settled on both the containers and at last picked up the box with the Spanish flag. Spain won the semifinal and reached the final, proving his predictions to be correct.

The oracle has been faultless so far though he had once incorrectly picked Germany as the winner against Spain at Euro 2008. Paul is not infallible, think especially the Germans now.
