The groundbreaking ecological restoration programme was highlighted during today's 141st IOC session in Mumbai by Ms. Marie Sallois, the IOC's Director of Corporate Development and Sustainability.
The International Olympic Committee's (IOC) Olympic Forest Network Initiative collaborates in the conception and implementation of the Odisha Ridley Forest project.

An amazing project that seeks to go beyond traditional ecological restoration is the Odisha Ridley Forest Project. Its goal is to support the larger vision of Odisha, which is to use sports as a vehicle for young development and to channel their energies towards building a sustainable future.
This innovative project has a thorough strategy that includes reforestation, neighborhood-based forest management, and the protection of native plant and animal species.
The Odisha Ridley Forest effort, which intends to plant one million trees over a 1,500 hectare region, has being carried out by the Odisha Forest Department. The programme has so far succeeded in planting 500,000 trees.
The Olympic Forest Network also contributes to the Sport for Nature Framework, a larger programme that goes beyond the Sport for Climate Framework. India joins Brazil, Papua New Guinea, Portugal, Slovenia, and Spain in initiating the Olympic Forest Network initiative through the Odisha Ridley Forest project.
The IOC, IOA, Abhinav Bindra Foundation Trust, and The Habitats Trust are working together to complete the project.
