OIL, IOCL to clash in final in men's Team championship
Rajkot, Feb 2 (UNI) Oil India Limited (OIL) and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) will clash in the men's team championship final in 27th PSPB Inter Unit Table Tennis Tournament, at the Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) indoor stadium here.
OIL and IOCL had earlier defeated Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and Oil Natural Gas Commission (ONGC) respectively in the tournament.
IOCL's international player Soumyadeep Roy lost first match of semi-final to his counterpart S Chadhary of ONGC by 6-11, 9-11, 11-8 and 6-11.
IOCL's Sarath Kamal had no difficulty defeating his counterpart R Das with ease, winning three straight sets 11-9, 11-9 and 11-8, while S Raman of IOCL also defeated A Ganguly 11-8, 12-10 and 12-10.
Roy in a reverse match defeated R Das and won three straight sets 11-6, 11-4 and 11-3. OIL won the semi-final 3-1.
In the second semi-final, Oil Team Members beat HPCL 3-0. S Saha beat A Darekar 11-1, 11-1, 11-2, A Kashyap beat Arup Basak 11-8, 11-4 and 12-10 and Kumar defeated S Ramaswamy 11-7, 11-6 and 11-7.
Earlier in a veteran team match, IOCL emerged victorious, winning all five matches, securing ten points, while ONGC stood second with four wins and one defeat.
In the preliminary round of men's team championship, IPCL secured first position with eight points, winning all four matches, while EIL came second with seven points, winning three and losing one match.
GAIL, BPCL and BRPL stood third, fourth and fifth positions respectively.
