Olympics 2024: Arjun Babuta misses out on Olympics medal, Twitter Reacts with Agony for the Indian shooter

India's Arjun Babuta missed an Olympic medal by a whisker on Monday (July 29). The shooter finished 4th in the Final of the 10m Air Rifle, coming short of the podium despite taking an early lead.

Babuta made a fantastic start to in the first series of Stage 1. He backed that up with an even better performance in the second series and was ranked 2nd in the table. As the single shots arrived, Babuta started to falter.

A 9.9 shot started his downfall, which ended with a 9.5 shot in his final attempt. The Indian shooter was threatening the top-place Sheng Lihao at one stage, but serial low scores dented his chances and finally, the Indian shooter succumbed to pressure.

The 25-year-old came to the final in the 7th place and will be immensely proud with his performance, but still the manner of this elimination will be hurting him.

Sheng Lihao of China won the Gold medal with 252.2 points, which is an Olympic Record. Sweden's shooter Victor Lindgren got the Silver while Croatian shooter Miran Maricic grabbed the Bronze medal.

The fans empathized with Arjun Babuta for the heartbreaking defeat. Almost all the netizens congratulated the Indian shooter for his exceptional performance and lamented his misfortune.

Arjun Babuta reportedly broke down after losing the final and his teammate Elanevil was there to compose him and escorted the shooter away from the broadcasters.

Netizens have only been supportive of Babuta after the disappointing defeat. The two shots under 10 ended his hopes and the fans spotted that.

A fan posted how close Arjun Babuta once was of taking the lead in the final. From a gap of 0.1 to missing out the podium was indeed a disappointment.
