Olympics 2024: Lovlina Borgohain vs Li Qian Head-to-Head Record ahead of Quarterfinals

In a highly anticipated showdown, Lovlina Borgohain will step into the boxing ring against China's top-seeded Li Qian in the quarterfinals of the women's 75kg category at the Paris Olympics on Sunday.

Lovlina, the bronze medallist from the Tokyo Olympics in the 69kg category, has been on a mission to make history in Paris. She displayed her formidable skills in the opening bout against Norway's Sunniva Hofstad, securing a dominant win to advance to the quarterfinals.

However, the challenge ahead is immense. Lovlina's opponent, Li Qian, is a double Olympic medallist and the No.1 seed in the 75kg category. Qian boasts a decorated career, including a silver medal at the 2021 Olympics, a bronze in 2016, and numerous accolades from the World Championships and Asian Games.

The rivalry between Lovlina and Li Qian is well-documented. The two boxers have faced each other multiple times, with their most recent encounter at the Grand Prix 2024 in Czechia. In that round-robin tournament, Lovlina secured one victory but ultimately fell short, losing 2-3 to Qian in the decisive bout and settling for a silver medal. Similarly, at the Asian Games final in Hangzhou last year, Qian emerged victorious with a convincing 5-0 win over Lovlina.

Despite these setbacks, Lovlina has had her moments of triumph against Qian. Notably, she defeated the Chinese boxer in the semifinals of the World Championships last year in New Delhi, securing a 4-1 victory before clinching the gold medal.
