USA toppled China in the medal standings after sprinter Noah Lyles clinched gold in the men's 100m event at the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024 on day 9 of the competition - Sunday, August 4.
China, however, still finished level in terms of gold medal count on the Paris Olympics medal table after the men's 4x100 Medley Relay team beat the United States to gold in the swimming competition.

The women's 4x100 medley team of USA clinched a gold in world record time as they finished the day with 71 medals. USA is expected to add even more in the coming days with athletics events and medal events in various sports scheduled to take place in the final week in Paris.
USA and China share the lead for golds with 19 medals each after day 9 of the competition at the Paris Olympic Games. The two nations are followed by France and Australia who have won 12 gold medals each. Great Britain and South Korea are the next two on the list with 10 golds each.
USA lead the table with 71 medals followed by China, who have won 45 medals as of August 4 in Paris. Hosts France have won 44 and Great Britain has won 37 medals, while India has won 3 medals.
India has drawn a blank since they added their third medal, which also came in shooting and the colour remained bronze, as they sit in the 57th position on the Olympics 2024 medal table with three bronze medals.
