In a significant development ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced Mrs Nita M. Ambani as its IOC member from India.
This decision was made during the 142nd IOC session in Paris, where she secured unanimous support with 100% of the vote.

Mrs Nita M. Ambani expressed her gratitude after her re-election, stating, "I am deeply honored to be re-elected as a member of the International Olympic Committee. I would like to thank President Bach and all my colleagues in the IOC for their faith and trust in me. This re-election is not just a personal milestone but also a recognition of India's growing influence in the global sporting arena. I share this moment of joy and pride with every Indian and look forward to continuing our efforts to strengthen the Olympic Movement in India and around the world."
Nita Ambani first joined the IOC in 2016 during the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games, becoming India's first woman on this prestigious body. Since then, she has significantly contributed to promoting India's sporting ambitions and Olympic vision. Notably, she hosted the first IOC session in Mumbai in over four decades in October 2023, showcasing India's new aspirations to the world.
The Reliance Foundation, under Nita Ambani's leadership, aims to empower millions of Indians by providing resources and opportunities across various sectors such as sport, education, health, art, and culture. The foundation's sports programmes have reached over 22.9 million children and youth across India since its inception.
The foundation focuses on promoting sports throughout India, especially in remote areas where access to sports facilities is limited. Their initiatives range from grassroots programmes to elite training, ensuring that young athletes have the support they need to excel.
As part of a long-term partnership with the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), Reliance Foundation is opening India House at the Paris Olympics 2024 this summer. This venue will serve as a "home away from home" for athletes, celebrating victories and sharing India's Olympic journey with the world.
