The ongoing Olympics 2024 has been an eventful one for both India and Pakistan. The two arch-rivals have seen monumental results in the quadrennial event.
India has so far won 5 medals - four Bronze and a Silver. The Indian contingent has brought three medals in Shooting, while Hockey and Athletics have brought in one each. Pakistan has also broken their 32-year barren run as Arshad Nadeem brought a medal for them in the Javelin throw.

India has been historically superior to Pakistan when it comes to the Olympics. The neighbouring country's last Olympic medal before Arshad was in 1992, when their men's Hockey team won a Bronze in Barcelona.
India, on the other hand, has won 26 medals between Pakistan's medals in 1992 and 2024. But amid India's overwhelming dominance, this will be the first time in 32 years that Pakistan may finish ahead of India in the medal tally.
In the 1992 Olympics, Pakistan got one medal but India failed to clinch any medals, which made Pakistan finish higher in the medal tally.
But in the Paris Olympics 2024, despite India's 5 medals already, Pakistan has eclipsed them in the medal table. Pakistan is currently placed 53rd in the medal table, whereas India sits in the 63rd position.
Although India has more medal count than Pakistan, the ranking of the nations in the Olympics is done by the number of Gold medal counts. As Pakistan won the Gold medal in the Javelin throw courtesy of Arshad Nadeem, they have gone ahead of India in the table.
For India, it has been a solitary Silver along with 4 Bronze medals, which is lower in the pecking order compared to Gold, which determines the rankings. That is why Pakistan will occupy a higher position than India in the Olympics 2024 medal table.
