Paris 2024 Olympics came to a close on Sunday (August 11) with a star-studded closing ceremony at the Stade de France, where the baton was passed to the host of the next Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
The Olympic Anthem resounded inside the Stade de France as the Olympic flag was lowered by members of several corps of the French Army before the flag transfer happened in accordance with protocols.

The mayor of the Paris 2024 host city, Anne Hidalgo, presented the Olympic flag to IOC President Thomas Bach, who in turn handed it over to the mayor of the City of Angels, Karen Bass to officially start the countdown to Los Angeles 2028.
As the games head to the City of the Angels, here is a look at the when the Summer Olympic Games will get underway, and where the events will be hosted as well as the list of sports or disciplines set for LA 2028:
The next Olympic Games will be held in Los Angeles after the city won the bid by unanimous votes to host the global event for the third time, having previously staging the Summer Olympics in 1932 and 1984.
While, Los Angeles will be the host city, various events is also scheduled to be held at other cities spread across the Greater Los Angeles area, plus two subsites in Oklahoma City.
The LA 2028 Summer Olympics is scheduled to be held from July 14 to July 30. Like the previous editions, some events may start early, but the games officially begins with the opening ceremony on July 14, and will come to a halt with the closing ceremony on July 30.
The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and the SoFi stadium will stage the Olympics 2028 ceremonies, while majority of venues are divided into clusters known as "sports parks", situated in Downtown Los Angeles, the San Fernando Valley, Carson and Long Beach.
