ONE 171: Qatar Results – Pacio Stops Brooks, Haggerty Outclasses Wei, Phogat Loses on Return

ONE Championship returned to the Middle East for the second time in 12 months, this time with ONE 171: Qatar - and the event lived up to the hype inside Lusail Sports Arena.

Ten main card bouts across MMA, kickboxing, and Muay Thai took place on Thursday, February 20, leaving fans wanting more as fighters delivered many more memorable moments inside the Circle.

In the main event, ONE Strawweight MMA World Champion Joshua "The Passion" Pacio settled the trilogy with interim champ Jarred "The Monkey God" Brooks to unify the division's crown with a second-round TKO.

Brooks was hellbent on getting in and out of the Circle as quickly as possible, so he took the fight to Pacio immediately. He dragged Pacio to the canvas before unleashing a litany of submission attempts that the Filipino fought off expertly.

In doing so, "The Monkey God" expended a dangerous amount of energy, which allowed Pacio to turn the bout on its head in the second frame. He put Brooks on his back and began to unload a never-ending stream of strikes.

The punches in bunches proved too much for Brooks to overcome, forcing an end to the bout at 4:22 of round two as Pacio unified the strawweight gold and settled their trilogy in emphatic fashion.

In the co-main event of the evening, ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Championship Jonathan Haggerty retained his gold crown in a five-round showing against #1-ranked contender Wei Rui by unanimous decision.

The defending World Champion neutralized Wei's striking from the onset of the bout, finding success with a plethora of push kicks and consistent striking combinations to keep the Chinese star guessing.

"The General's" attacked drained Wei's gas tank in the later stages, which enabled Haggerty to pressure him and put an exclamation mark on his performance while returning to the win column in an impressive outing.

Also on the under card, India's Ritu Phogat, who made her long-awaited return to the ONE Circle, suffered a first-round submission loss against Japan's number three-ranked women's atomweight Ayaka Miura. Here is a look at the final results of ONE 171 Qatar:
