ONE Championship: Nong-O Hama’s Top 3 Performances In ONE Circle

ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion Nong-O Hama's reign is on the cusp of entering its fifth year in ONE Championship. However, his next challenger will arguably be the most decorated athlete he's faced in some time.

Nong-O battles former ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Jonathan "The General" Haggerty on Saturday, 22 April, in the main event of ONE Fight Night 9 at the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Nong-O Hama

The striking veteran hasn't lost in almost eight years due to the tenacity he brings to every single bout. And, at 36 years old, the legendary striker shows no signs of letting up. As his next bout nears, let's look at Nong-O's top performances in ONE.

Alaverdi Ramazanov

Nong-O kickstarted 2023 at the inaugural ONE Friday Fights event this past January against a relentless challenger in Russia's Alaverdi Ramazanov.

After eliminating multiple contenders on his way to Nong-O, Ramazanov oozed confidence against the World Champion and looked to be getting the most out of each exchange.

You can never count Nong-O out of a fight, though. In a moment of madness inside the third round, the Thai legend flipped the bout on its head with a lightning-quick flurry to the "Babyface Killer."

The output forced Ramazanov to his knees, where he was unable to answer the referee's count. Just as the tide was turning, Nong-O yet again showed us why he is at the head of the bantamweight table.

Liam Harrison

At ONE on Prime Video 1 last August, fans witnessed two of Muay Thai's hardest hitters colliding inside the Circle when Nong-O met British banger Liam Harrison in a World Title clash. However, the outcome would serve as the champion's quickest bout under the bright lights.

Almost instantly, Nong-O attacked Harrison's legs in vintage fashion. From then on, the kicks became the tale of the bout.

His powerful low kicks quickly took their toll on the ever-durable Englishman, who's poker face quickly began to melt.

Nong-O expertly switched his kicks to different regions to keep Harrison guessing. Then, at just over two minutes of the opening round, one more kick shattered the challenger's knee, and his World Title hopes.

Saemapetch Fairtex

In what was a Muay Thai showcase for the ages, Nong-O took on Saemapetch Fairtex in November 2019 at ONE: EDGE OF GREATNESS. Following a close first round, Nong-O gained control of the bout in the second stanza with a magnificent combination that put Saemapetch down.

The damaged Saemapetch managed to endure the remainder of the frame, even after being dropped again. But he was not out of trouble. The fire between the two blazed into the third round.

The duo fought tooth and nail with Saemapetch attempting to force his way back into the bout. However, Nong-O's patience paid dividends in the form of a lone right hand in the fourth frame, stopping Saemapetch in his tracks.

Nong-O will certainly have his hands full against Haggerty later this month at ONE Fight Night 9, and fans should surely expect another firefight.
