ONE Fight Night 13: Marat Grigorian’s Top 3 Performances In ONE Championship

A trilogy 10 years in the making will be reignited this Saturday, 5 August, when #2-ranked featherweight kickboxing contender Marat Grigorian steps inside Bangkok, Thailand's Lumpinee Stadium for a historic occasion.

The Armenian icon meets ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Champion Chingiz Allazov in the main event of ONE Fight Night 13, who he beat on one occasion and fought to a no contest on another.

The culmination of the saga comes after the historic foes have set themselves apart from the rest of ONE Championship's featherweight kickboxing division. With that, let's look at Grigorian's top three performances in the organization.

1. Tayfun Ozcan - ONE Fight Night 2: Grigorian came up short to Superbon Singha Mawynn in his inaugural ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Title challenge. But the 32-year-old responded to the setback in tremendous fashion at ONE Fight Night 2.

The Armenian was in fine form against Tayfun Ozcan last October, picking apart his Turkish adversary over the course of three rounds. Grigorian's performance saw him dominate his opposite number, leaving with the unanimous decision.

The win placed him back in great stead in the featherweight bracket, and it was very apparent that he would have a say in facing the eventual winner of Allazov and Superbon.

2. Andy Souwer - ONE: FIRST STRIKE: When Grigorian met Andy Souwer in October 2021, the pair made it clear they had lethal intentions. Both striking powerhouses refused to give the other an inch, standing toe-to-toe unleashing brutal combinations.

Grigorian continued to bite down on his mouthpiece and attempt to trap the Dutch legend against the Circle's wall. In doing so, this allowed him to drive home devastating leg kick combinations that would pay dividends.

Eventually, the damage began to show its worth on Souwer. And at 2:26 of the second frame, Grigorian sat Souwer down with a counter. The Dutchman's damaged legs rendered him unable to return back to his feet, and Grigorian left with the TKO.

3. Ivan Kondratev - ONE: BIG BANG: Grigorian's arrival in ONE marked a massive moment for the featherweight division. He was touted as one of the biggest names in kickboxing, and it was only a matter of time before he established himself inside the promotion.

The Armenian and Ivan Kondratev welcomed a brawl in the early going of Grigorian's debut at ONE: BIG BANG. But soon after, Grigorian's eagerness led him into a sharp right hook to give him a standing eight-count.

Time was on Grigorian's side, however. The second round began and, now fully recovered, he had a point to prove. Grigorian poured the pressure on Kondratev, draining the Russian's energy.

At 1:52 of the second round, Grigorian landed a beautiful left hook to Kondratev's body. With Kondratev unable to return to his feet, Grigorian had overcome a rough start to shine in his promotional debut.
