ONE Fight Night 14: Allycia Hellen Rodrigues Determined To Prove Doubters Wrong In Quest For Two-Weight Glory

ONE Atomweight Muay Thai World Champion Allycia Hellen Rodrigues' ONE Championship tenure has seen her compete at the highest level from the get-go. And after winning the World Title from Stamp Fairtex and then defending it against Janet Todd, the Brazilian's thirst for gold remains unquenched.

The 25-year-old looks to strengthen her promotional positioning at ONE Fight Night 14: Stamp vs. Ham. On that day, Rodrigues meets 18-year-old prodigy and ONE Strawweight Muay Thai queen Smilla Sundell with the Swede's World Title on the line.

Rodrigues has quickly cemented herself as striking royalty in ONE. Her debut saw her snatch the ONE Atomweight Muay Thai World Title from Stamp in the Thai's backyard when she was just 22 years old.

And after three years out of action, the stoic smasher outstruck American veteran Todd to retain her World Title for the first time at ONE Fight Night 8 this past March.

Despite the enthralling success she's quickly found in ONE, Rodrigues senses that she remains underestimated. And by becoming a two-weight Muay Thai queen against the almighty Sundell, Rodrigues feels critics will finally acknowledge her.

"I'm moving up in the division because I couldn't let this opportunity pass me by. I want to make history. I want to be a champion of two divisions," Rodrigues said.

"But my biggest motivation is seeing that a lot of people are not believing in me, and I'm going to show them all that nothing is impossible when you work hard. I grabbed this opportunity with all my might, and I'm going to show it in the fight."

Allycia Hellen Rodrigues Intends To Make Statement Against Smilla Sundell

Allycia Hellen Rodrigues has found great success in the atomweight world. But moving up a division presents a variety of new challenges. The stature of her female foes could be bigger, stronger, and hit harder than before.

The atomweight Muay Thai queen is well aware of this, though. She is under no illusions of what to expect. And while it means Rodrigues will have to chip away at Sundell longer, she doesn't believe a stoppage is out of the realm of possibility.

"I believe that I am smarter and more accurate and that I am also more complete in Muay Thai. But, due to Sundell's height, I know it will be difficult to knock her out. So knocking her out won't be easy, but it won't be impossible, either," Rodrigues said.

"I'm definitely going into the fight with the intention of knocking her out. I'm really looking forward to the fight, and I believe it will be one of the best fights of the event."
