In the main event of ONE Fight Night 24 at Bangkok's Lumpinee Boxing Stadium on Friday, August 2, Jarred Brooks defeated Gustavo Balart in sensational fashion to claim the ONE Interim Strawweight MMA World Title and set up a meeting with divisional king Joshua Pacio.
The two stars faced each other head-on at the center of the ring, but it was "The Monkey God" who quickly dragged Balart to the canvas and clung to his back. From there, he constantly applied pressure and attempted a rear-naked choke on his foe.

The rugged Cuban athlete tried to defend for as long as he could, but at the 4:39 mark of round one, he could not defend any more and had to tap.
It was Brooks' 11th finish of his MMA career, bettering his professional record to 21-3 and guaranteeing a World Title unification match with old foe Pacio in the near future.
Multiple-time BJJ World Champion Mayssa Bastos bagged the ONE Women's Atomweight Submission Grappling World Title on her debut as she beat former titleholder Danielle Kelly in a thrilling 10-minute encounter.
Bastos started with her open guard and constantly attacked Kelly's back in the opening minutes of the bout. The American standout evaded her attacks and amped up her aggression as the match progressed.
At the midpoint, Kelly managed to score a deep inside heel hook, which prompted the Brazilian to attack vigorously. Her efforts resulted in a near-perfect belly-down heel hook with minutes remaining in the bout.
Bastos was declared the winner by unanimous decision. She became the first Brazilian athlete to hold a ONE Submission Grappling World Title and was awarded a US$50,000 performance bonus from the ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong.
