ONE Fight Night 27: Akbar Abdullaev Ready To Showcase “Aggression” Against Tang Kai In World Title Showdown

By Mike Joseph

Akbar Abdullaev is on the verge of achieving his lifelong dream of becoming a ONE World Champion as he faces featherweight MMA kingpin Tang Kai in the main event of ONE Fight Night 27 on Saturday, 11 January.

The battle between two destructive knockout fighters takes place inside Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. "Bakal" is a fighter who aims to finish his opponents as quickly as possible. In fact, since turning pro in 2020 he has stopped every single of his adversaries.

The 27-year-old knockout machine carried that momentum into ONE, securing three finishes against top-tier stars. Oozing with confidence, Abdullaev claims that judges aren't needed in his fights as he always looks to finish his opponents, regardless of who they are.

"My fight style is total annihilation, quick finishes, and aggression. I think Tang Kai is a cool-headed and experienced fighter, but I don't see anything surprising. I haven't studied him very scrupulously, but I would say he prefers to strike, wait, and tries to be on the move," Abdullaev said.

"I think his strength is waiting and working on counter-attacks. His weakness? Honestly, perhaps it's wrestling, and my goal will be to attack him in transition. I think judges are not necessary in my fights, and I will try to finish sooner than expected."

Abdullaev boats an impressive record of 11-0, with all but two of his wins coming inside the first round. He has won his fights by KO/TKO and submission, proving himself to be a well-rounded fighter.

Now, he aims to defeat Tang, who is undefeated in ONE, to become the undisputed ONE World Champion. The Kyrgyzstani star takes pride in representing his country and showcasing the world that Kyrgyzstan produces strong fighters.

"This is the goal of my life - to represent my motherland and my people to the whole world, so that the whole world knows there are such strong fighters as the Kyrgyz. This is an honor for me," Abdullaev said.
