The Philippines' top MMA fighter Denice Zamboanga is just one step away from achieving her dream. She will face Alyona Rassohyna for the ONE Interim Women's Atomweight MMA World Title at ONE Fight Night 27 on Saturday, 11 January.
The much-awaited contest between two top-ranked contenders will take place inside the prestigious Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, as the co-main event. Zamboanga, currently on a three-fight winning streak, is looking to maintain her momentum.

The Ukrainian, however, is no pushover. She is known for her suffocating submission skills. The #4-ranked contender is also the first MMA fighter to beat divisional queen Stamp Fairtex. She did so via submission.
Meanwhile, Zamboanga has been working on her ground game to prove that she is better in that area, win, and hopefully get the next crack at Stamp to unify World Titles.
"I want to test her grappling. I haven't seen her face a pure grappler or wrestler, as she's faced strikers. That's why she always dominates the ground game. She hasn't faced someone like me. I want to prove that I'm better than her on the ground," Zamboanga said.
"My wrestling and BJJ have always been improving. I have a team in jiu-jitsu that truly focuses on me, they're really analyzing my moves, my strengths and weaknesses, to really improve my ground game."
The Filipina superstar began her martial career with karate and, over the years, has evolved into a well-rounded MMA fighter. Since joining ONE in 2019, "The Menace" has built an impressive record of 6-2.
She also took a jab at the skills of her opponent, who has won most of her fights by submission. Zamboanga believes being well-rounded is far more important than being a one-trick pony. The 27-year-old is confident in her skills and aims to claim the gold with a finish.
"Being a well-rounded fighter is truly important in MMA," she said. "You can't just focus on one thing. That's why I'm so confident coming into every fight. I'm confident that I'll get to finish her wherever it goes whether it be on the feet or on the ground."
