ONE Fight Night 30 Results: Roman Kryklia Knocks Out Lyndon Knowles To Retain Muay Thai Crown

By Mike Joseph

Two-division and two-sport ONE World Champion Roman Kryklia remained untouchable after making short work of Lyndon Knowles to retain his ONE Heavyweight Muay Thai World Title in the main event of ONE Fight Night 30 on Saturday, April 5, inside Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

The Ukrainian needed less than a round to put away his British counterpart, showcasing his unique combination of size, speed, and power for the first World Title defense of his Muay Thai strap.

Kryklia quickly went to work on his opponent's body to start the first round, while the shorter Knowles tried to cut the distance and utilize the clinch to no avail. A huge straight right from Kryklia signaled the beginning of the end for Knowles as the 33-year-old followed up with a knee and left hook to secure the first knockdown of the night.

Smelling blood, Kryklia swarmed and connected on a head kick that had Knowles back on the canvas. And though it wasn't ruled a knockdown, Kyrklia made sure his next shot was more than that.

The Champ Belts representative landed a bomb of a right cross that put the lights out on his 38-year-old challenger to claim the KO win at the 2:10 mark of the first round and a US$50,000 performance bonus in the process.

The win also improved Kryklia's all-striking record to 51-7, while allowing him to stay unbeaten in world's largest martial arts organization with a 7-0 record and six finishes in the promotion.

In the co-main event, Regian "The Immortal" Eersel brought home a consolation win after losing the ONE Lightweight Kickboxing World Title to the scales by ending his trilogy over Alexis Nicolas with a majority decision.

Eersel connected on a powerful left hook near the end of the second round to score the only knockdown of the fight and change the complexion of the contest for good.

Nicolas didn't have any type of answer for Eersel after that, as the erstwhile two-sport king was just simply a step or two ahead of his challenger en route to the decision win. Here is a look at the final results of ONE Fight Night 30:
