ONE Fight Night 7: Three Things You Didn’t Know About John Lineker

Brazilian banger will look to use his dangerous hands to reclaim the vacant bantamweight division strap against formidable foe Fabricio Andrade at ONE Fight Night 7.

John Lineker

Bangkok, Febraury 17: Former ONE Bantamweight World Champion John Lineker has undoubtedly built a name for himself in mixed martial arts as one of the most heavy handed sluggers the sport has ever seen.

Later this month on Saturday, 25 February, the Brazilian banger will look to use his dangerous hands to reclaim the vacant bantamweight division strap against formidable foe Fabricio Andrade at ONE Fight Night 7.

But while his KO power may be familiar to fans worldwide, the old school battler has always preferred to let his handiwork do the talking for him, leaving his quiet personality an obscurity to fight fans.

With that said, here are three things you should know about Lineker before his showdown at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Got His Nickname From A Boxing Legend

While Lineker is known as "Hands of Stone" in mixed martial arts, the nickname stems from another hard-hitting combat sports veteran.

Legendary Peruvian boxer Roberto Duran first donned the moniker throughout his boxing career, with it catching on due to the heavy artillery packed in his punches.

The admiration Lineker holds for Duran has been noted, and it is easy to see why when the two have made a name for themselves by rendering opponents unconscious.

Proud Father To Five Children

Another aspect of Lineker's livelihood that's rarely spoken of is his family life.

The brawling bantamweight is a proud father to five children, and while he rarely discusses them in the media, he has mentioned how ONE has provided him the opportunity to give them a better life through fighting.

In order to make his family that much prouder in 2023, reclaiming the bantamweight crown would surely be the icing on the cake.

Holds A 75 Percent Finishing Rate In ONE

The American Top Team representative's arrival in ONE brought a lot of excitement with it. Due to his ferocious fighting style, Lineker has always been worth the price of admission.

Amassing an incredible 17 knockouts throughout his career, with seven of those taking place in the first round, Lineker has continued the trend since joining ONE.

Over the course of five bouts inside the Circle, the Brazilian has a 75 percent finishing rate, knocking out ONE veteran Kevin Belingon, Troy Worthen, as well as former ONE Bantamweight World Champion Bibiano Fernandes to claim the crown at ONE: LIGHTS OUT last March.
