ONE Fight Night 9: Nong-O vs. Haggerty was expected to be a barnburner from top to bottom, and it certainly delivered. In the main event, Jonathan "The General" Haggerty lived up to his promise.
He finished Nong-O Hama in the first round to claim the ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Title inside the electric Lumpinee Boxing Stadium on Saturday, 22 April.

After a brief feeling out process where they exchanged kicks, Haggerty scored the first knockdown in Bangkok, Thailand. The Englishman connected on a body shot, then he planted a right straight on Nong-O's jaw to put him down.
With the Thai legend on shaky ground, Haggerty pounced and cornered Nong-O, connecting on a 1-2 combination for the second knockdown of the night.
With the 26 pounds of gold in sight, Haggerty never let up. He threw everything on the erstwhile champion from an elbow to an uppercut before ending it with a vicious 1-2 as the sold-out Lumpinee Stadium erupted in adulation of their new World Champion.
With the win, Haggerty, a former flyweight king, became just the second two-division Muay Thai World Champion in ONE Championship after the legendary Sam-A Gaiyanghadao.
In the co-main event, Halil Amir kept his immaculate record intact after surviving the tough fighting Maurice Abevi in a three-round lightweight MMA bout. He took the unanimous decision win.
The fourth-ranked lightweight's striking was on point. He dropped Abevi repeatedly in the first round, but the erstwhile unbeaten Swiss athlete showed great toughness as he slowly made a fight out of it.
Not fearing Amir's heavy strikes, Abevi continued to push forward. He found success in the second round by taking the match to the ground and turning it into a virtual grind. He almost got the finish near the end of the second stanza, rolling to a calf-slicer in the waning seconds of the round. Though, Amir toughed it out.
The Turk finally created separation in the third, showing his grappling prowess as he exploded from the bottom to sweep his opponent. From there, he nearly finished Abevi with a Suloev stretch.
The Swiss man managed to get out of the precarious position, but Amir stayed busy as the match ended with him looking for a rear-naked choke. With the win, Amir improved to a 9-0.
