ONE Friday Fights 46: Joseph Lasiri And Prajanchai To Battle In Strawweight Muay Thai World Title Unification Bout

ONE Friday Fights 46: Tawanchai vs. Superbon looks to end 2023 in explosive fashion. And the action from Bangkok, Thailand's Lumpinee Boxing Stadium has had another star-studded World Title clash added to the mix.

The highly anticipated rematch between ONE Strawweight Muay Thai World Champion Joseph Lasiri and interim titleholder Prajanchai PK Saenchai was added to the spectacle that goes down on Friday, 22 December, live in Asia primetime at ONE Championship's final show of the year.

The rematch comes 19 months after their initial meeting in May 2022 at ONE 157. Lasiri entered the Circle as the underdog, but he managed to do the unthinkable. "The Hurricane" brought the fight to the accoladed Thai, rendering him unable to leave the stool between the third and fourth rounds.

It was the arrival of a new star in Lasiri, who then attempted to add more gold to his collection in November 2022 at ONE on Prime Video 4 against ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon.

However, the Italian-Moroccan was unsuccessful that night and has been on the sidelines ever since. But now back to full health in time for the closing of 2023, "The Hurricane" is set to remove all doubts about who the top strawweight Muay Thai striker truly is.

Having gathered plenty of steam since his dramatic setback though, Prajanchai will certainly have his say on the matter. The legendary Thai got 2023 underway in successful fashion this past January at ONE Friday Fights 1.

His unanimous decision win over Kompet Fairtex proved enough for Prajanchai to earn a shot at the division's interim strap against familiar foe Sam-A Gaiyanghadao in June. And Prajanchai wasn't leaving anything out of his control.

The 29-year-old starched his rival in the second frame to drape gold over his shoulder once more. Then, Prajanchai refused to wait for Lasiri's return. Instead, he ventured into the kickboxing realm to battle Akram Hamidi at ONE Friday Fights 34: Rodtang vs. Superlek this past September.

With a unanimous decision intact, a three-fight winning streak collected, and a shot at redemption lined up, Prajanchai meets Lasiri in the most combustible strawweight Muay Thai affair of the year.
